Photo Competition. Closing date 28th September
As part of the Museum of Barnstaple & North Devon's Heritage Photographic Competition 2015, Westside Warehouse Books, publisher of The Tarka Trail Guide are pleased to be sponsoring a new category, 'Life on the Tarka Trail'.
There are 4 categories:
· Family life – people, families, walkers, picnickers
· Wildlife – birds, animals, trees and wildflowers
· A dog’s life – your pet pooches enjoying the trail
· Life cycle – bikes, trikes, scooters (including mobility scooters)
In each category there will be a prize for both adults and under-16s, plus an overall 'best of the lot' winner's perpetual shield and further prizes. The photos will be judged by keen amateur photographer and co-author of the Tarka Trail Guide, Carl Klinkenborg, and professional photographer Mike Southon. Whether your photo is taken on a Hasselblad or a mobile phone; whether you are 9 or 90, you have a chance of winning. The only stipulation is that the photo must be taken between Braunton and Meeth on the shared-use section of the Tarka Trail.
Originality of content, images which capture the special qualities of the Trail or even humour could be judged above absolute technical prowess and print quality. For example the judges could feel that a quick snapshot of a happy cycling family might be more true to the spirit of the Tarka Trail than a technically perfect, professionally set-up telephoto shot of an otter, and please, no false-colour over-manipulated images! In addition to the chance of winning a prize, the best entries will also be displayed at the Museum in their 'North Devon in Photographs' exhibition. This runs from the 7th November until the 6th January, so don't be shy – get snapping and enter those photos. Further details and how to enter here.
